Smart Unity, the trade union organisation of Smartwings, a.s. pilots, Company ID No. 217 79 724, with its registered office at Malé sídliště 1100/43, Beroun-Město, 266 01 Beroun (hereinafter referred to as „Smart Unity”), is the largest trade union organisation operating within Smartwings, a.s., Company ID No. 256 63 135, with its registered office at K Letišti 1068/30, 160 08 Prague (hereinafter referred to as “Smartwings”).
On 8 December 2025, Smartwings and Pegasus Air Transport Inc. issued a joint press statement regarding their intention to conduct negotiations over the course of approximately the next year on the sale of the group, which includes České aerolinie a.s., Company ID No. 457 95 908, with its registered office at K Letišti 1068/30, Ruzyně, 161 00 Prague 6, and, through it, also Smartwings.
The entry of a strategic investor into Smartwings has been discussed repeatedly and over a long period of time, including during the period of collective bargaining, which resulted in the successful conclusion of the very first collective agreement in the history of Smartwings and the commencement of active cooperation between Smart Unity and the management of Smartwings.
As a trade union organisation, Smart Unity cannot comment on the decisions of the shareholders regarding specific candidates within the shortlist of the selection procedure and in particular cannot comment on the widely publicised negotiations with the Polish bidder. Nevertheless, Smart Unity welcomes the interest of Pegasus Air Transport Inc. in negotiating a potential entry into or acquisition of the entire group and thus also Smartwings. We believe that the involvement of a strategic partner will support the further development of Smartwings and thereby contribute to the improvement of working conditions for employees as well as to the enhancement of services for passengers. We hope that, under the leadership of Pegasus Air Transport Inc., the established constructive cooperation between Smartwings and Smart Unity will be maintained. Constructive trade union activity in the spirit of the 21st century contributes, through feedback and dialogue, to increased safety and more efficient Smartwings operations.
